About Van Buren Housing Authority

Public housing was established by the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. The purpose of the act was to provide home for those of low and moderate income and to provide jobs for the unemployed. The Housing Authority of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas (Van Buren Housing Authority of VBHA) was organized on May 18th, 1960, pursuant to the Housing Authority Act of Arkansas.

VBHA currently owns and manages 198 units of public housing (family and designated elderly) in Van Buren, Arkansas. VBHA also manages 40 units of public housing in Ozark, Arkansas.


Mission Statement

Our goal is to provide drug free, decent, safe, and sanitary housing for eligible families, and to provide opportunities and promote self-sufficiency and economic independence for residents.
